Peaceful Modern NeighborhoodThey say moving and weddings are two of the most stressful events in our lives – so where does divorce rank? And then couple that uncoupling with the aforementioned moving. Now what level of anxiety are we at?
I say we are…..excited.
Excited for a new life, new neighborhood, new friends, and all in your very own Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Wherever you are living with your spouse you are bound to find somewhere completely different because Albuquerque truly has that much diversity to offer. Your next move depends on a variety of factors such as:
• Whether you have children;
• Where your job is located or are you retired;
• How much you can afford;
• Are you going to buy or rent;
• What amenities/conveniences do you want in your neighborhood;
• What do you want to spend to your free time doing.
Give this some real thought. Do you want to be close to the park or to cool restaurants? Or both? Are you leaving the suburbs for the downtown scene – or vice versa? Here are some ideas to get you started:
Downtown Albuquerque: Surprisingly affordable, downtown Albuquerque is bustling without being overbearing. You can live amongst great restaurants, bars, and 1960s architecture. This may be perfect for the recently divorced dude or gal who has just escaped the suburbs.
Nob Hill: If you are looking for something a bit more residential than downtown with a cultural flair then this may be a good fit. Nob Hill, with its tremendous diversity attracts young professionals as well as people for all walks of life. Another affordable option.
High Desert: On the other end of the spectrum you have the high society, High Desert. Expensive and luxurious may be just the direction you are taking your new life to.
Are you a retiree or have kids out of the house? Then perhaps you are looking for something else entirely. One of these neighborhoods may suit you better:
South Valley: This is the agricultural epicenter of Albuquerque. If a more rural lifestyle is what is on your horizon this neighborhood of working class families may just work best for you.
Foothills: Find the city’s finest homes in the foothills of the Sandias. This area offers trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. This pricier option gives you the aesthetics of a breathtaking location with spectacular views of the city, as well as the mountains.
With children in the mix, your next move must include thoughts on geographical convenience to school, activities, along with each parents’ home. If a child will be changing schools then you are in luck since “[o]f the 52 New Mexico schools ranked in 2016 among the U.S. News Best High Schools, 10 earned silver medals and 39 received bronze medals” and two of the three that earned gold medals are in Albuquerque.
Lots to think about, lots to look forward to – good luck with your renewed freedom in your new digs!
